Our lives grew busy back in the States, while
each month I had international trips.
Racked up on two airlines a million mile,
fam vacations on frequent flyer scripts.
Four-game Saturdays: pitch, diamonds, or courts.
When not connecting through foreign airports,
conspired events cut alone time short.
Despite best intentions … Absent consorts?
Her nurturing, my travel, us harried,
running ragged, on repeat, just to live
for small beings. We seemed hardly married,
stretched thin, separate. Something had to give.
Weird. The more I did the dirty dishes,
she’d find more time for marital wishes 😉
