“’Course nothing is as easy as it seems.
Your marriage appears resilient and stout.
Yet off the wall one’s life often careens.
Below surface, are you letting all out?”
Was our marriage perfect? We had some irks.
We got too busy, no time to reflect.
She consumed with kids’ needs, me with my work.
Lost time for each other, benign neglect.
Mother and Father points we did accrue.
Carved time for ourselves? If we remembered.
How to think as two, when so much to do?
Exhausted. Wrung … As spouses? Dismembered.
Decided. Acted. Best way to do it?
Through all those years we worked our way through it.
