Played my Part (2/36)
Vonnets in an Airport Lounge
“Sir, you’re married, seem at ease with your life,
While my swings at love have hit a rough patch.
Tell! Do you have harmony with your wife?
If so, how did you score such a love match?”
Well… When twenty-five yep I did tarry.
Perhaps I was ruled by logic, not heart.
One day I decided: up and marry!
I made my decision. Then played my part.
Without strategy or expectation.
Me? A three? Too green, no clue how to strive.
Engineering job, no lofty station.
My wife? Many might have rated a “five” …
Thinking ’bout it … over four decades’ time …
Have to say, my God, how her rating climbed!
