The Hidden Resilience of a Live Poets Society
Dedicated to Hidden Resilience, who deep down knew all along, reflecting on one of her first published poems,
with gratitude for your unwavering support this past year,

The Hidden Resilience of a Live Poets Society
Can it be? Over thought is over wrought?
That despite what for years I have taught,
with an inner demon of doubt I have fought,
drifting in naughts. A break is all I sought,
a felt journey descending down to earth,
vulnerable and quietly freeing.
Conjure creativity from the dearth!
Must I explore to affirm my being?
Will it turn out that someone has noticed
my efforts? That means more than I can say,
kind, gentle recognition of focused
and heartfelt feelings alive in the fray.
Can you fault my gusto to have a go?
The audacity! I enjoy it so.

Thank you for this…it truly moved me! You are one of the poets whose talent I’m in awe of, and reading your sonnets has been my pleasure. I look out for them, every Friday when you post. ☺️💛
I really loved the shift in this from doubt to that final sense of quiet audacity. “The audacity! I enjoy it so.” feels like such a satisfying ending, especially after everything that comes before it!
